Alan T. Mak, FCPA, FCA
BDO Canada LLP, Toronto
Alan Mak is a partner in BDO’s Toronto office and the firm’s National Practice Leader of Forensics. Since 2000, Alan has practiced exclusively in litigation and forensic accounting. He has appeared as an expert witness in matters before the Federal Court of Canada, Tax Court of Canada, Superior Court of Ontario, Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench and in various quasi-judicial proceedings. A graduate of the Schulich School of Business at York University, Alan has held teaching positions at Schulich and the University of Toronto. He was elected a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario in 2016.
Anita K. Ferrari, FCPA, FCA
Anita Ferrari recently retired as a partner with Grant Thornton in Toronto, after serving on numerous committees, including on its National Management Committee and holding a number of roles within the firm. She obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto in 1983 and her Chartered Accountant designation in 1985. Her longstanding contribution to the profession through volunteer service was recognized in 2009 when Anita was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.
Dave Vert, CPA, CA
University of Waterloo, Waterloo
Dave Vert is a lecturer and the CPA Ontario Leadership Fellow in the School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) at the University of Waterloo. The past program director for SAF's Master of Accounting graduate program, he joined the University of Waterloo as an adjunct faculty member in 2000 and left public practice to become a full-time faculty member in 2006. An active volunteer, he currently serves as Treasurer of Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph as well as Torchlight Services.
Debra J. Taylor, FCPA, FCGA
Hume McDonough Litte Taylor LLP, Sarnia
Debra Taylor holds a distinguished record of business and community involvement in the Sarnia-Lambton Area. A Chartered Director, she served as a board member of the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce, serving as Chair in 2011, and is a recipient of the Outstanding Business Achievement Award. Sarnia-Lambton’s 2008 Volunteer of the Year, she has provided volunteer services to numerous charities, not-for-profit organizations and the accounting profession. She was elected a Fellow of the Certified General Accountants of Canada in 2011.
